The Caspian Sea Oil Fleet (CSOF) was created for provision of all process of oil and gas production at the continental shelf of the Caspian, including construction of sea foundations, trestles in the sea, provision and carrying out geological and geographical exploration, construction of oil and gas pipelines, repair of the pipelines during exploitation, provision of fire safety of seabed mining, transportation of petrol workers to their working places, as well as transport of various freights including combustive-lubricating substances, drinking water, methanol, equipment, metalware etc.

For provision of the whole nomenclature of works, connect with offshore oil production, the shipping has in its disposal different vessels, having up-to-date equipment, the main of which are:
- Crane vessels with lifting capacity of cranes from 25 tons to 2500 tons.
- Replenishment vessels – universal vessels, providing tugging objects, floating drilling units, stationary platforms, supply of sea foundations, drilling rigs with lubricants, drinking water, foodstuffs, granular and other cargoes.
- Tugboats – anchor handling tugs, line tugs, rescue-tugs, berthing tugs, and others.
- 600-seated passenger vessels, transporting petrol workers to Oil Rocks, definite sea foundations situated far away from the port of Baku, small passenger launches providing changes of guard at definite sea foundations in the coastal areas.
- Tankers – vessels for transportation of drinking water, methanol and combustive-lubricating substances.
- Pipe-lay ships – laying and repairing of under water pipelines at the depth of 300 m.
- Fire-boats – for fire guard in oil and gas production regions and drilling areas.
- Diving boats with diving equipment (depth of submergence is about 300 m) and baots for deep water divers.
- Barges – the floating items with boat load from 2000 to 15000 tons.
The Fleet’s vessels were built in the former USSR and Yugoslavia, as well as Poland, Finland, the Netherlands, Germany and France. |
